Bravos Foundry is a para-academic space where anyone can go to explore knowledge production (on their own or as part of a group) while participating in the maintenance of the space and ecology they live in. The project is a set of 150 year-old stone buildings that are currently in the process of renovation into communal living, cooking, and working spaces. The details of the renovation have been considered from a permaculture point of view; e.g. prioritizing repair based on energy loss on the site, slowly observing the use of the site and developing it with the users, designing for material cycles by rethinking the concept of waste, and carefully using materials that maintain the structural integrity of existing stone and wood structures.
